WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The Travel Department is responsible for the day-to-day and strategic management of the organization’s travel. The Travel Business Planning Consultant will support the Travel Director with daily travel operations, support disaster response operations, develop business analytics using Microsoft BI technologies to leverage the organization’s travel data
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities: The Travel Business Planning Consultant will work with the Travel Director, located at the American Red Cross Fairfax, VA office. The position will work closely with the Travel Director to:
- Support management of daily travel operations; address traveler concerns, problem solve daily travel department issues affecting travelers, operations, service, meeting requests, etc.
- Liaison with Red Cross staff and travel suppliers; provide education on T&E policies, GSA City Pair program, card program, new initiatives, etc.
- Support disaster response, including after-hours
- Assist with changes, training, and implementations to the travel program
- Understand organizational and business requirements to set functional specifications for reporting applications
- Analytical knowledge, ability, techniques, and tools to help the Travel Department mine, cleanse, normalize, visualize, and model T&E data, i.e., design data models to convert raw data to meaningful insights.
- Design, develop, and deploy business analytics dashboards using Microsoft Query and Microsoft Power Platform technologies such as Power BI and Power Automate.
WHAT WOULD GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE
- Travel Certification (i.e., GTP, CCTE, GLP), Hotel Management, or related field or equivalent work/industry experience preferred.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Power Query and Microsoft Platform technologies, to include Power BI, Power Automate, or similar platform. Verified certification in Microsoft BI technologies strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge or desire to learn TMC/GDS/OBT solutions and T&E reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis.
Scope:
Individual contributor with comprehensive knowledge in specific area. Ability to execute highly complex or specialized projects. Adapt precedent and may make significant departures from traditional approaches to develop solutions.

Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of applicable principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Basic proficiency in use of Personal Computer, word-processing, spreadsheet applications, and database applications when applicable. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: May travel and participate in meetings and conferences throughout chapter jurisdiction, state and Red Cross system.
A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.
